From plans to progress
In just four decades, Collin College enrollment increased over 1000%. The remarkable growth of the Texas institution reflects the population influx around its campuses, namely those in McKinney, Plano, and Frisco. College leaders have done a tremendous job anticipating and planning for expansion by completing and implementing strategic plans roughly every five years.
PRISM produced ten renderings in 2016 for PBK Architects, the firm responsible for the district-wide 2016-2020 Master Plan. The renderings were instrumental in securing the necessary votes to pass the $600 million bond issue to fund capital improvements included in the plan. We reflect on this project as an example of the power of detailed visuals to educate voters.
PBK’s master plan for Collin College encompassed roughly 200,000 s.f. of improvements and new construction at five existing campuses and three new campuses. Their recommendations increased Collin College’s student capacity by more than 20,000. PBK credited PRISM for producing beautiful and engaging renderings used to translate the long-term vision of Collin College and PBK into visuals the community could understand in support of the bond issue.
