Mention “ice house” to anyone outside of Texas and they may think you’re talking about an igloo. Texas ice houses of decades past kept perishables cold. Today’s ice houses are casual community spots for cold drinks and friendly gatherings. Kirby Ice House does socializing at Texas scale: big selection (50+ beers on tap), big indoor and outdoor space (over 20,000 s.f.), and plenty of parking (over 3-acres).

The newest Kirby Ice House location in Greater Heights will also boast the longest bar in Texas, a whopping 146 feet. It will be the fourth location for the popular concept, featuring the largest indoor seating space, with a combined area of 24,000 square feet, evenly split between indoor and outdoor space. Russ Morgan, President of Kirby Ice House, has once again partnered with PRISM Renderings to create the marketing visuals for this project, continuing our collaboration across all three previous Kirby Ice House locations.

PRISM worked with Morgan to produce renderings of the original location in Upper Kirby and the wildly popular Memorial City location that opened in 2020. The new outpost will be on 3.5 acres just inside the 610 North Loop West in the Shady Acres neighborhood of Greater Heights. It is tentatively scheduled to open in fall 2025. Energy Architecture provided design services. They may not be the mainstay they once were, but today’s ice house is to Texas as sweet tea is to the South – refreshing, timeless, and always there when you need it.
